CORDURA

CORDURA

Material description
Woven in high-quality nylon thread, this fabric offers high mechanical resistance, which makes it very suitable for intensive use. Cordura is a Dupont trademark and is mainly known as a material for rucksacks, backpackers, jackets and motor clothing, applications in which strength and a high degree of protection are important.  The added value of the use of Cordura as furniture coating lies in its tactile properties: the material is pleasant and warm to the touch. In the Double You collection Cordura nylon is laminated on polyethylene foam, which makes it highly moisture resistant.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Light vacuuming on a regular basis will prevent dust build up and most marks can be cleaned with a mild detergent solution followed by rinsing and blotting. Avoid severe abrasion

Specific stains:
Before carrying out a proposed cleaning method, apply to a concealed section to ensure it will not affect the adhesive.

A Mop up excess as soon as possible with a sponge or cloth.
B Remove surplus with a knife edge or appropriate instrument.
C Sponge with a solutions of carpet shampoo working from well outside the stain in a circular motion towards the
centre (this avoids spreading the stain). Sponge afterwards with clean warm water and mop up excess moisture
with a clean dry cloth or sponge. Allow to dry then brush gently with a soft brush. If any stain remains, sponge with
a solution of one part household bleach to six parts clear water. Thoroughly rinse after treatment.
D Lightly sponge with household dry cleaning fluid and blot. Apply sparingly, as the substance may have an adverse
effect on the adhesive.
E Sponge with methylated spirits and blot dry.
G Apply nail polish remover. The nail polish remover should not include lanolin or be of a greasy nature.
H Sponge with turpentine (or substitute).
I Freeze with ice cubes and scrape away while cold.
J Clean with regular extractive carpet cleaner (if possible).
K Use circular cutter and remove damaged portion. Re-glue new piece into place.

DESKTOPĀ®

DESKTOP®

Material description:

Desktop® is part of the Furniture Linoleum collection of Forbo. It is manufactured from renewable raw materials from growing trees and plants. Linseed oil, rosin, wood flour and pigments are the basic elements of linoleum. Is is biologically degradable, not harming the environment after its long life. The aesthetic and tactile properties of Furniture Linoleum give objects a unique character. The combination of a matt surface and a warm, natural, slightly springy feel can provide any interior furnishing with distinctive additional value.

! During the last phase of the production process, a yellowish tint, the so-called drying room yellowing, may form on Furniture Linoleum, especially on the lighter shades. However it disappears quite quickly when exposed to light.

! As with almost all finishing materials the patterns from different production runs may show slight colour variations. Always consider this when repeating an order.

Cleaning and maintaining

Stains on the materials should be removed as soon as possible.

It is recommended to clean horizontal surfaces daily or weekly with a cloth and typically with a mild household cleansing agent.
If the material becomes very dirty, clean the entire surface. Use a cloth and water to which some mild household or neutral cleansing agent has been added. Wipe the surface dry with a well-rinsed and wrung out cloth.

To prevent stubborn stains from forming, use coasters under flower pots and vases, and preferably also under cups and glass ware.

Remove ink stains as soon as possible (if necessary use white spirit or methylated spirits)

DIVINA

DIVINA

Material description

DIVINA is a 100% wool product of the Kvadrat collection.

Cleaning and maintenance

Daily care and immediate stain removal will ensure that your
wool upholstery will keep looking good for many years to
come. It is normally sufficient to regularly vacuum and air
furniture upholstered in wool fabric. However, it is a good
idea to clean the wool fabric occasionally. Use an approved
wool shampoo and follow the instructions carefully. Take
care never to saturate the wool fabric. Never use undiluted
cleaning agents, bleaching agents, ammonia or soap
intended for hard surfaces.
As a rule, many types of stain can be removed using warm
water. If the stain does not disappear using water, then treat
the stain according to the following guide.

Stain removal
If you act quickly, it is not difficult to remove a spill and
avoid staining.
First, soak up the liquid with an absorbent napkin or cloth.
For dried stains use a spoon to roughen the surface. To
avoid the stain spreading further start from the edge of
the stain working towards the middle. Then, treat the stain
according to the following guide.

WARNING!
Be careful when using solvents, because these could dissolve
the upholstery material beneath.

General information
These tips are purely recommendations and cannot
guarantee 100% stain removal. In all cases, we recommend
contacting a professional cleaning establishment, particularly
for bigger stains and for thorough cleaning.

VENEER

VENEER

Material description:

Veneer is an environmentally friendly assimilation of wood and gives furniture and interiors an aura of warmth and exclusivity.

Environmentally friendly: cutting the most beautiful tree trunks to veneer from 0.5 to 0.8mm thick (standard at Bulo = 0.6mm) increases the yield from these branches considerably as compared to solid wood. The procedure for obtaining the FSC label has been started up.

Exclusive: the colour and wood grain of veneer is unique. In contrast to solid wood, veneer lends itself better to building project applications. The structure and colour of a branch can be maintained for each assignment by means of “completed pictures”. However, there may be differences within the same type of wood. These differences give no reason for complaint. On the contrary, they are part of the added value of a natural product which distinguishes the material from imitations.

In addition to the colour and the wood pattern, the appearance of an item of furniture in veneer is determined by the carving method and the joining technique. There are various possibilities here, from slab to quarter, from open book to slide. For ecological reasons, in our production we strive for optimal processing for each type of wood. At Bulo, the most commonly used joining method is “turn and slide”. Depending on the type of wood, we opt for slab or quarter, but it is always A-quality.
To provide better protection against dirt, scratches, incidence of light and such like, the veneer is given a finishing coat of a 2-component acrylate with 8% sheen. The hardening of this coating takes 2 months: it is recommended not to surcharge your veneer desktop during that period.

Cleaning and maintenance:

Dust the veneer regularly and clean it occasionally with a lightly wrung cloth in pure water. If the surface gets marked, take action as soon as possible in order to prevent permanent damage.
NEVER use “wonder agents”, sprays, detergents, silicone, sandpaper, steel wool, or abrasive products because these products will damage the varnish. If necessary, you can use “ether” to remove marks because it is a volatile substance, but it is perhaps better to ask a professional to do it because the surface can also be damaged if it is rubbed for too long.

Veneer is, and continues to be, wood and it is therefore sensitive to temperature differences, damp, and UV rays. Make sure that the furniture is always located in a “stable” room.
With some types of wood (especially padouk) it is advisable to move objects (e.g. desk lamp or desk mat) on the working surface regularly so that discolouration occurs evenly. It is also recommended to put felt glides under the objects you put on the veneer desktop.

LEATHER

LEATHER

Material description:

Leather is a natural and unique product. In spite of the strict selection of skins and hides, specific features such as subtle nuances in grain texture, neck folds, scars that have healed naturally, etc. … may be visible to the eye.
Please be advised however that these are inherent to any leather, significantly contributing to its natural charm.

! Leather is particularly sensitive to direct sunlight and air humidity which both cause discolourations.  Make sure you never place your leather-upholstered furniture too close to heat sources. This causes the leather to desiccate locally out and may produce tears. It is advisable to place your furniture in rooms that have a stable room climate.

Early on, leather-upholstered seating furniture is sometimes left feeling a bit rigid and sterile. With use, folds and wrinkles will form, also known as a “legere” effect. This is the result of the natural stretch of the leather. Moreover, during the early stages the padding and bounce will adapt, serving to reduce tautness by around 10% before the leather goes on to remain constant at around 85% of the way padding and bounce were at the outset. Please be mindful of buckles and zippers.

Maintenance and cleaning:

General: in principle, leather requires little in terms of care and maintenance. Over the years, the leather takes on a natural patina, which will only serve to enhance the exclusive beauty and charm of leather.

For regular care and maintenance, simply dust down your leather worktop or leather-upholstered chair on a regular basis using a dry dust cloth (do not use a vacuum cleaner as this may cause minor lesions). Each month, give the leather a rub, using a clean, dampened cloth. Follow this up immediately with a fresh wipe using a dry, woolly cloth.

For intensive care and servicing (no more than twice a year!), simply rub a feeding leather cream into the leather fabric (e.g., P420). Most leather creams that are commonly available in any specialist shop will do. This will keep the leather supple and resilient whilst making sure it continues look as new. Make sure you apply the cream gently in layers that are not unduly thick. The first time you use the product, we would recommend you first try it out on a less conspicuous part of the furniture.

Hair tonics, nail varnish, wax, shoe cream, detergents and similar products as well as abrasive cleaning products are definite no-no’s as these may cause permanent damage to the leather.

When faced with stains, we recommend promptly removing the stain using a dry cloth. In doing so, do not continue rubbing the same spot too hard or too long. When removing a stain, be sure to gently rub around the stain too and be patient: as the leather takes on a natural sheen over time, many stains patinate away into the leather in due course.

MOHAIR VELVET

MOHAIR VELVET (Pub&Club NG)

Material description

Mohair is a silk like fabric or yarn made from the hair  the Angora goat. It is both durable and resilient. It is notable for its high luster and sheen, and is often used in fiber blends to add these qualities to a textile. Mohair is also warm as it has great insulating properties. It is durable, moisture-wicking, stretch and flame resistant, and crease resistant.

Due to the structure of the mohair fibre, small knots may occasionally appear in spinning and weaving.
This does not affect the look or performance of velours. These effects are less visible in thicker velours.
A few single black and white hairs of the Angora goat which do not absorb colour in the dyeing process may appear in the finished fabric. These characteristics do not in any way reflect a depreciation in quality, but emphasise the natural character and authenticity of mohair velours.

Cleaning and maintenance

Please note:
As with other articles, dust settles on upholstered furniture as well. Dirt can also be caused by contact with dirty materials. Do not allow the dirt to become too excessive, otherwise it will be more difficult to remove. The upholstery cover fabrics should be cleaned regularly to ensure prolonged life and appearance.
Regular maintenance should consist of
• Vacuuming and/or brushing
• Removal of stains
• an intermediate clean
• a fundamental clean
The fundamental clean should be undertaken by an expert.
Depending on the degree of dirt and the colour of the fabric, a
fundamental clean is advisable every 4 or 5 years.

The regular maintenance
Mohair velours should be brushed with a hard clothes-brush and/or vacuumed with the nozzle, always in the direction of the nap. A rejuvenating treatment for mohair is to rub it with a slightly damp
leather cloth, again in the direction of the nap.

The removal of stains
Naturally, a professional upholstery cleaner has more expertise in removing stains but it is possible for you to remove minor stains by following these instructions:

Damp stains
These should be treated as soon as they occur with a white absorbent cloth or tissue , slightly moistened with lukewarm water. It is very important not to use coloured cloths 1 tissues as the colour may rub
off and stain the fabric. If water alone will not remove the stain, a diluted carpet 1 upholstery
shampoo can be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Never apply the cleaning solution directly onto the
upholstery but onto a dampened white cloth. This should then be rubbed gently (rubbing too hard may affect the surface structure of the fabric) onto the stain, working from the edge to the middle. Any residual shampoo should be removed carefully with a damp cloth. The last rubbing should always be in the direction of the nap. The upholstery fabric should he dried immediately before being used again (a hair dryer on a low temperature setting can be used).

Dry stains
These can be treated in a similar way to damp stains. If the stain remains, dab it with a white cloth dampened with soluble

Benzine.
The intermediate clean
The intermediate clean is defined as the treatment of the whole
surface of the upholstery cover fabric. For mohair velours it can be
done in two different ways:
• By spraying a dry shampoo onto a dampened, squeezed out
sponge and rubbing onto the fabric, following the
manufacturer's instructions.
Use a dry shampoo that crystallises 100%.
• By using a liquid shampoo worked into a foam with a sponge and then using only the foam.
At the end of the treatment, the whole surface should be rubbed carefully with a dry white cloth in the direction of the
nap. When the upholstery cover fabric is completely dry, vacuum or brush it with a soft brush, always in the direction of
the nap.
The upholstered furniture should only be used again when it is completely dry (at least 24 hours).
If mohair velours are not regularly maintained, certain well-worn areas (seats, arms) will show pile tangling and matting over a period of time.
Depending on the colour, this will be seen by a change of shade. After cleaning, these parts should be treated with a damp cloth or water spray pump bottle as follows:

Treatment of marks due to wear and tear
By sitting you exert a pressure on the velours fabric forcing the nap in different directions. This, together with heat, the rising air humidity and the body moisture and the type of stuffing beneath can 'fix' this change of direction which is noticeable through a change of colour. This is a typical property of velours and it is neither a defect nor a sign of low quality. *)
This effect can be removed by applying a damp (not wet) cloth overnight which will restore the mohair fibre. Again, the upholstered furniture should not he used until it is completely dry. If necessary a hair dryer can be used at low temperature.

*)The foundation "Warentest ' (testing products), in Berlin, explains in its "Handbook for the purchase of furniture ', 1994 edition, page 49..
"Concerning velours the appearance of a mark due to the wear and tear is unavoidable and it depends neither on the height and the position of the nap or on the warmth, weight and damp of the body, but this is a typical property of this product. "
The same result can be achieved by spraying distilled water for a few seconds, at a distance of 20 cm from the fabric and again leaving overnight. Care should be taken not to drop large quantities of water on the fabric. It is advisable to treat the whole surface in order to avoid shading. This treatment can be repeated if necessary. After this treatment, the upholstered furniture must be completely dry before it can be used again. A hair dryer at a low temperature setting can be used.

POWDER COATED MDF

Powdercoated MDF:

1.Material description:

Powder coating is a procedure whereby a covering layer or organic material is sprayed in powder form onto a surface via an electrostatic channel. This produces good adhesion and scratch-resistance. The absence of solvents or thinners means that powder coatings are more environmentally-friendly than other lacquering methods.

2.Cleaning and maintenance

For general maintenance, we recommend cleaning your carpet every now and then using pure tepid water or a soapy solution containing max. 5% soap. After cleaning, make sure you thoroughly rinse out the product using pure water. Always work from top to bottom. Never perform cleaning when the carpet is exposed to the blazing sun (risk of stains forming).
Only use neutral cleaning agents with a pH value between 6 and 8.
Never use solvents such as petrol, acetone, methylated spirit, ammonia, polar solvents or chlorinated hydrocarbons, intensely alkalic or acid solutions, etc. Never use rough or scratchy cleaning products, such as grinding/abrasive agents, steel wool sponges, scouring pads, sanding paper, etc.
Grease stains or glue and silicone traces can be removed using aromatics-free white spirit.

If you are unsure as to the composition of any given product, you are advised to first try out the product on a less conspicuous spot.

Everyday care and maintenance

Vacuum the fabric on a regular basis. Please make sure you use the appropriate attachment so as to avoid getting caught in the fabric with the sharp edges of the attachment.

Removing stains.

In all cases, prompt action is the key to cleaning any kind of fabric. The longer you leave it, the deeper the stain will be absorbed into the underlying layers.

* Liquid stains
Try dabbing the stain dry as much as possible using a clean cloth or some kitchen roll. Follow this up by applying a solvent-based cleaning product (please make sure you only dab – do not rub!).

* Other stains
Remove most of the dirt as best you can before going over the stain again using a solvent-based cleaning product. Here too: no rubbing, only dabbing!
When the stains have fully dried, brush up the fabric pile.

Biro lines are best removed using a special ball-point remover (e.g. Beckman) to be applied onto a cotton cloth. Rub the cloth starting on the outside moving towards the centre. After you have finished, leave the fabric to dry in the air. However, please consider that any kind of pressure rubbing on pile fabrics (which include corduroy) will inherently damage the pile.

* Severe soiling
In these cases, we recommend calling on the services of a specialist cleaning company to have the fabric chemically cleaned.

* Tip

When using a soft, solvent-free cleaning product, we recommend you first try out the product on a small part of the fabric that is not exposed to view to test the agent’s colourfastness before treating the actual stain.

When dealing with a wet stain soak up as much of the stain as possible with an absorbent material that does not shed fibres.
Apply Vescom Ceaner by spraying it directly onto the upholstery or by dabbing in on with a cloth.
When dealing with heavy stains apply Vescom cleaner undiluted and allow it to soak in for a few minutes.
Use a soft brush and firm pressure to remove stubborn stains from the structure of the upholstery.
Always work from the outside in to stop the stain from spreading.
Remove any remaining traces of dirt and cleaner with a clean wet cloth. Then dry the upholstery with a clean cloth.
Warning
Never clean vinyl upholstery with harsh or abrasive cleaning products or products that contain solvents.
